Bearing Witness to ICE, Burlington

ICE Burlington Protest Crowd
Bearing Witness Standouts at the Burlington ICE facility

Join Bearing Witness New England to make a difference. Bearing witness refers to the act of sharing and validating experiences, particularly traumatic ones. It involves listening and providing support without judgment, allowing individuals to express their truths and emotions.

Bearing Witness Standouts at the Burlington ICE facility at 1000 District Ave., Burlington, MA 01803 take place:

Every WEDNESDAY, 11 to 1:00 p.m., stand in solidarity with Indivisible Waltham and Bearing Witness to bear witness to the cruel and unconstitutional actions of our government. Click here for more information and to join us.

Every THURSDAY from 11:00 am to 1:00 p.m., GAIN (Greater Assabet Indivisible Network) continues their Justice 4  at Burlington ICE events, at the same location and with the same instructions as Wednesdays. Contact info@massgain.org or justice4all.thu@gmail.com for more information.

Every SATURDAY, join No Fear Street Theater for protests from 11 am to 1 pm. Stand up for immigrants two blocks from the Burlington ICE office at Burlington Mall Rd. at District Ave.

Tip: Park near stores to overcome MAGA efforts to suppress Bearing Witness to ICE. Then go through the mall–both before heading over to the event and before returning to your car.

ICE Out Boycott List

Take a look at the corporations enabling ICE operations (MS Now, YouTube). When a company chooses to do business in a community, it enters into an implied social contract with that community. Companies break that social contract by enabling such a community to be harmed. Are you wondering how we can exert economic pressure on corporations to stop them from supporting ICE operations? Jess Craven (Chop Wood Carry Water) has shared an ICE Out Boycott List that includes script suggestions and alternative vendor options.

LUCE Defense Hotline and ICE Watch Hubs

The LUCE Defense Hotline (617-370-5023) is a statewide ICE watch hotline that operates from 5 am to 9 pm every day and is staffed in multiple languages. If you suspect ICE activity in your neighborhood and are unsure it is ICE, call the hotline to report it. Trained volunteers will then attempt to verify ICE’s presence and notify the community.

You will find sign-up links on the LUCE website  if you would like to express interest in volunteering for their multilingual hotline, which offers responses and resources to our statewide immigrant community. You can also volunteer to serve as a verifier for your local area LUCE watch hub. An organizer will contact you about inviting you to a verifier training. This training serves as an orientation to LUCE. Even if you do not want to be a verifier, there are many ways to get involved.
