Newton Resists ICE Abuses with “ICE Out for Good” Event

On January 10th, 570 neighbors gathered in Newton Centre to speak out against ICE terror. Read more about it in this article.
Help Pass the Massachusetts Consumer Data Privacy Act!
ICE has been ramping up enforcement and terrorizing communities here in Massachusetts and around the country. And now it has a powerful new tool: The ability to track individuals across crowded cities using cellphone location data. According to new reporting by 404 Media, ICE recently bought Webloc, a surveillance technology that lets agents track specific phones as the owners move around the city. With this technology, ICE can stalk anyone who has attended a protest or visited a church, store, or school in a neighborhood with a large immigrant population, all without warrants or oversight. The implications are chilling. But unlike many of ICE’s abuses, Massachusetts can stop this practice in our state. Join the ACLU in calling on lawmakers to pass strong data privacy legislation.
Elections Action Team

- Get involved with the ICE OUT For Good Phone Bank on Wednesday, January 21, at 1:00 p.m. We’re coming together to call voters in key states and urge them to contact their senators. These calls can make a real difference because senators need to hear that their constituents expect accountability, transparency, and humane policies.

- Swing Blue Alliance’s monthly Frontline Update is a fast-moving briefing where they’ll spotlight three states, three strategies, and real ways you can take action immediately. The next one takes place on Saturday, January 24, from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. on Zoom.
- Re-Engage Black and Latino Voters with Onyx Impact and Voto Latino takes place on Monday, January 26 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Zoom; a discussion with Esosa Osa (founder of Onyx Impact) and Ameer Patel (CPO of Voto Latino) on how to counter online disinformation and re-engage Black and Latino communities.
- Postcards to Register Voters event with Activist Evenings Brookline to encourage people to vote, and other timely messages. Bring someone new to activism and make some friends. Mondays, 6:45 – 8:45 p.m. at United Parish Church, 15 Marion Street, Brookline, 02446 (in person!).
- Postcards to Voters are friendly, handwritten reminders from volunteers to targeted voters, giving Democrats a winning edge in close, key races coast to coast. For example, you can get addresses from Postcards to Voters to encourage voters in Hillsborough County, Florida, to vote by mail!
- The 8 Elections to Watch This January guide from BOLTS includes important special elections on January 31st in Texas in the 9th Senate district and in the 18th congressional district.
