ACTION OF THE WEEK: Speak out about Newton’s response to ICE
It isimportant and urgent that you express your concerns about ICE at the City Council meeting on Wednesday, April 15th, 2026, 7:00 p.m. in the Newton City Hall Council Chamber.
The City Councils Public Safety & Transportation Committee has scheduled this meeting to hear public testimony about residents’ concerns about ICE, including how we would like the City to react to ICE activity in Newton. There will be a strong showing from pro-ICE residents, so please show up and wear yellow in solidarity!
There are three ways to express your concerns:
- Show up in person to demonstrate your concern (best) and sign up at the podium to speak;
- Show up virtually here (second best);
- Email your opinions (third best) to all City Councilors at citycouncil@newtonma.gov and the Mayor at mlaredo@newtonma.gov.
Please take a look at these talking points to help you draft your response.
A new page on the city’s website, Immigration Rights & Resources, contains the city’s latest policies and commitments; examine it to see how well the city is aligned with your position.
Take a look at the Meeting Agenda.
Celebrate Patriots Day

Mobilize for May Day

Organizers are looking at May Day, May 1st, as an opportunity to forge solidarity and flex economic power by mobilizing a nationwide general strike no work, no school, no shopping backed by Indivisible and hundreds of labor and clergy groups. Sign the May Day 2026 pledge to record your commitment. Visit MAY DAY STRONG to learn more.
